We know several structure types that we apply to display the results of a scientific experiment, but the most popular one is the IMRAD.   1. Introduction. The purpose of this step is to bring information to the reader of the report. In the introduction section of a scientific paper the author should mention all relevant information about the experiment or research that is about to take place. The relevance of the information should be compared with the methods that the experiment will be using and any information regarding the elements used in the experiments or previous history of similar attempts should be noted. This section is also where the author should write down the theories that are being tested and the equations that will be used throughout the experiment.   3. Results. This is the part of the report that contains the data, which was discovered during the experiment or research. When reaching this section the author should display the result in the form of graph as well as charts, but should not only be limited to that. The results section can be used to display theoretical values in contrast to the actual data that was collected. You can also use results from previous experiments in comparison and describe what the study revealed.
  4. Discussion. After presenting the results, the lab report moves on to the next section in which the implications of the outcome should be discussed. Since a successful experiment of any kind can prove to bring new additions to the field it is covering, this section is reserved for the detailed impact that the new data can have on the subject.
